Belief in the scriptures God revealed is one of the six articles of faith, named among the things the believers affirm:
"All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers."

The scriptures God revealed
Muslims believe God sent revealed books to His prophets throughout history.678 The Quran names several by name — the Torah (Tawrat) given to Moses and the Gospel (Injil) given to Jesus:
"He … revealed the Torah and the Gospel."

The Psalms (Zabur) were given to David:
"And to David We gave the book [of Psalms]."

The Quran also mentions earlier scriptures of Abraham and Moses:
"Indeed, this is in the former scriptures, the scriptures of Abraham and Moses."

The Quran as the final book
Muslims believe these earlier scriptures were true revelations in their original form, but that the Quran is the final revelation — confirming what came before and serving as the standard over it:
"And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it."

Unlike the earlier books, the Quran is held to have been preserved unchanged in its original Arabic (see What is the Quran?).
